Geometry is the branch of mathematics that deals with the shape, size and position of geometrical objects like triangles, circles, polygons etc. Euclid is known as the father of geometry who paved the way for its study by his magnum opus ‘The Elements’ that established axioms which helped in the further development of this branch. Further, the Indians, Greeks and the Islamic scientists helped in formulating different theorems and properties that initiated deeper understanding of geometry.
As far as CAT and other B School entrance exams are considered, the syllabus of geometry is confined to what one has studied till the 10th standard. The entire syllabus can be further divided into the following chapters:
- Lines and Angles
- Coordinate Geometry
Coordinate Geometry which is the combination of algebra and geometry developed by René Descartes can also be included under geometry and is basically the study of geometrical objects with the help of equations to understand the position of such objects in the space.
In this section, we have prepared comprehensive lessons on each topic to make the theorems and properties crystal clear to the students. Also, included in each lesson are numerous illustrations that strive to help students to learn the art of applying these properties while solving problems.
